Every regional Safeguarding Board has a statutory responsibility to carry out core functions in relation to multi-agency safeguarding.

The Cardiff and Vale Safeguarding Board has overall responsibility for challenging agencies across the region. This allows the Board to:

• Protect and prevent children in its area who are experiencing or at risk of abuse, neglect or kinds of harm
• Protect adults within its area who have needs for care and support, and are experiencing, or at risk of abuse or neglect
• Prevent those adults within its area of becoming at risk of abuse, neglect, or other kinds of harm
