MONDAY 13 NOVEMBER 2017 AT THE PRINCIPALITY STADIUM, CARDIFF
The National Independent Safeguarding Board and the Welsh Government will host
a free of charge conference to launch Safeguarding Week 13 – 17 November.
Sport benefits individual’s and communities’ health and well-being, but it also has safeguarding challenges. This conference is about how we can make sport safeguarding-aware for children and adults.
WHAT ARE THE AIMS OF THE CONFERENCE?
- To learn from the experiences and resilience of our speakers whose lives have been damaged by abuse but who have triumphed in strength and dignity
- To promote sport and physical activities whilst ensuring that participants are safe
- To underline the essential role of preventing harm and abuse which adults may carry in secret for their entire lives.
WHO IS INVOLVED?
The conference speakers include a variety of inspirational speakers. The Minister for Social Services and Public Health will open the event. Members of the National Independent Safeguarding Board will share the chairing, interviewing and summing up.
WHO IS IT AIMED AT?
Regional Safeguarding Boards, sports’ governing bodies, parents, teachers, school governors, the police and sports coaches.
Details of how to register will be available shortly through the National Board’s website:
